Subadra have been busy remediating a refuelling depot at one of the UK’s busiest rail sidings. Fuel spills can have long-lasting impacts on both soil and groundwater, so a carefully planned, phased approach is essential to protect the environment while keeping critical infrastructure operational.
Our phased remediation strategy:
-
Phase 1 – Fuel Recovery: Using a band-skimmer system, our team successfully removed over 3,000 litres of hydrocarbon product from shallow soils.
-
Phase 2 – Targeted Excavations: We are currently supervising a series of focused remedial excavations to remove hydrocarbon-impacted hotspots. Once complete, the rail tracks will be reinstated.
-
Phase 3 – Groundwater Treatment: The next stage will combine groundwater abstraction with specialist chemical injection, removing residual dissolved-phase hydrocarbons from the deeper aquifer.
Throughout the project, our highly qualified site engineers and UKAS-accredited hydrocarbon and waste classification laboratory are ensuring quality, compliance and the best environmental outcomes.
At Subadra, we’re proud to deliver practical, proven remediation solutions that keep the UK’s infrastructure moving safely and sustainably.
