Delivering time-critical ground testing to support safe modular classroom installation with zero disruption to students during exam season.

The Challenge

A school in Surrey required the installation of a temporary modular classroom, with works needing to be completed without disrupting ongoing exams. As part of the design process for the temporary foundations, plate bearing tests were needed to assess ground bearing capacity and inform the temporary works design. The timing and sensitivity of the site posed a logistical challenge all work had to be completed outside school hours and with minimal on-site duration.

The Solution

We mobilised quickly to carry out the works in a single evening. Our team coordinated the delivery of a suitable excavator, carried out the required plate bearing testing, and arranged for removal of plant and reinstatement all before the site reopened the following morning. The testing provided critical data on soil stiffness and bearing pressure to support the temporary foundation design.

The Outcome

Thanks to efficient planning and out-of-hours working, we completed the investigation without impacting the school day or ongoing exams. The temporary works designers were provided with accurate, timely ground data, enabling safe and compliant installation of the modular classroom. This project demonstrates how our responsive, client-focused approach helps keep time-sensitive developments on track.
