The Challenge
The client and design team required a clear understanding of the ground conditions to enable safe and efficient foundation design. Variable drift deposits, overlying chalk bedrock, presented potential geotechnical challenges to the scheme.
The Solution
Our team completed a full site walkover before mobilising a Dart drilling rig to advance boreholes across the site. Through drilling and detailed logging we confirmed the presence of very stiff clay deposits above the chalk. Soil samples were recovered for geotechnical testing, ensuring accurate assessment of soil strength and properties.
Alongside drilling, we carried out laboratory testing and prepared a comprehensive factual and interpretative report, presenting clear recommendations for the foundation design.
The Outcome
The investigation provided reliable geotechnical data and engineering advice, giving the design team confidence to progress with their development plans. The project was delivered smoothly, safely, and thanks to a sunny Friday on site, in good spirits.
