Subadra was commissioned to undertake specialist drilling works in West Yorkshire to support the installation of a new deep anode system. The installation formed part of wider civil engineering works to protect key energy infrastructure.

The Challenge

The works required the installation of a 100-metre-deep anode within mudstone bedrock, directly adjacent to existing gas infrastructure. This demanded careful planning and precision drilling to maintain safety and avoid disruption to nearby assets.

The Solution

Using one of our rotary rigs, Subadra’s drilling team advanced the borehole to 100 m depth, through variable mudstone strata, to enable the placement of the permanent anode. Continuous monitoring and testing were undertaken throughout the installation to confirm integrity and compliance with design requirements.

The Outcome

Following successful testing, the anode system was commissioned and confirmed to be operating as designed, providing long-term cathodic protection to the buried pipeline network.
