Cathodic protection installations of this nature require specialist drilling expertise and involve considerably more than conventional borehole construction.
With a 100 metre deep borehole required, the works presented additional technical and operational risks that needed to be understood and carefully managed. These projects often sit outside the normal remit of drilling contractors, requiring experience of both the drilling process and the subsequent installation.
The Solution
Subadra successfully created the 100 metre borehole, applying specialist drilling experience to identify and mitigate the additional risks associated with the works.
Our team then completed the installation of the vent pipe, anode string, sacrificial cathonite coke breeze tremmied into depth and bentonite backfill.
Combining specialist drilling expertise with practical installation capability allowed Subadra to manage this challenging element of the project as a single scope of works.
The Outcome
The completed installation forms an important part of the pipeline’s corrosion protection system, helping to protect its integrity and long term performance.
By taking responsibility for both the specialist drilling and installation, Subadra also reduced the number of interfaces the engineering team needed to manage and provided an experienced delivery partner for a challenging and higher risk element of the project.
